International standard

Toward the ISO 42001 standard

ISO/IEC 42001 is the first international AI management standard. Aptia helps you build and document the "competence" and "awareness" building blocks it requires.

What ISO 42001 is

Published in 2023, ISO/IEC 42001 is the first AI management system standard, in the lineage of ISO 27001 for information security. It describes how to establish, maintain and continually improve responsible AI management: governance, roles, policies, risk and impact assessment, controls across the whole lifecycle. It is voluntary and certifiable by an accredited body, a trust signal increasingly requested by partners and clients.

Why aim for ISO 42001?

  • A signal of seriousness. A recognized certification that reassures clients and partners about your AI governance.
  • A structure. A proven framework to organize your AI governance rather than improvising.
  • A head start. Anticipate regulatory expectations rather than chasing them.

What it expects, where Aptia contributes

Among its requirements, the standard calls for competent and aware people, documented policies and tracked training. That is exactly Aptia's material.

Preparing is not certifying

Aptia prepares and documents precise building blocks of the standard, competence, awareness, training traceability, that ease your journey.

Aptia does not certify you ISO 42001: certification goes through the audit of an accredited body and covers your entire management system, far beyond literacy.
